The GHC team involved in the GAIA project includes: Sonali Kochhar.

Dr Sonali Kochhar, working as the Medical Director for GHC, has over 18 years of experience in a Leadership position for Global Phase I-IV International Clinical Research, Epidemiological and Safety Studies for Vaccines and Drugs conducted in the USA, Europe, Asia, Africa and India in adult and pediatric populations.

She has served as the Steering Committee member of the WHO meeting in July 2014 to “Develop Brighton Collaboration definitions for events of special interest for monitoring and evaluation in pregnancy”. She has also served as the session chair for the Pediatric Deliberative Session to develop a draft list of synonyms, concepts descriptions and definitions of fetal and neonatal events of special interest. She is a member of international groups involved in the development of a WHO globally integrated Vaccine Safety Monitoring system and Safety Standards for Malaria, Tuberculosis and AIDS Vaccine trials. Kochhar serves on International Scientific Advisory Boards and has numerous peer-reviewed publications in the areas of vaccine research and safety.

Contribution to the consortium

As part of the GAIA Coordinating Team GHC will lead scientific coordination together with BCF. As WP Leader of WP 1, Dr Kochhar will focus will be on harmonization of the standards, guidance and tools to be developed with particular emphasis on applicability and usefulness in LMIC. She will also coordinate the pertinent review and revision processes of the project outputs. As WP Leader she will be involved in the Steering Committee for overall project guidance as part of WP5.
